(12/01) Lawrence M. Schoen marked his fifth sale (and first poetry sale) to Speculon
with "Figurative Gryphon." As if that weren't enough, he also sold "Cruel Teacher" to Speculon.
(10/01) Lawrence M. Schoen has sold "Past Waves" as a reprint to John Klima for the premiere issue of Electric Velocepede, due out in November.
(08/01) Catherine Petrini received a grant from the National Italian American Foundation for writing a nonfiction book on Italian immigrants. The project's stated goal is to "promote or preserve Italian American culture, history, or heritage."It's not sci/fi/fant, but it's a living!" In addition, Lawrence M. Schoen sold "Chasing the Bear," to Speculon.. Also this month, Allison Stein will coordinate the Writers Workshop at the World Horror Con 2003 (http://www.whc2003.org), to be held April 17-20, 2003, in Kansas City MO. Allison is also co-chair of WHC2003's programming committee, and will be a guest at Archon 25 (http://www.stlf.org/archon/25/index.html), Oct. 5-7, 2001, in Collinsville, Ill. (greater St. Louis, Mo.)

novel, Journeys Far (working title) appearing in the new
issue of Mass. Ave Review.
(11/00) Lawrence M. Schoen sold "The Gargoyle And The Bully,"
another poem, to appear in the sixth issue of Spellbound.
Lawrence M. Schoen: Has sold another poem, this one for

E.S. "Jake" Jacobs: Had his time travel story "Time Out
of Mind" claim second place in the current quarter of the Writers
of the Future contest.
Catherine Petrini: Graduated in May from Johns Hopkins University
with a Master's of Arts in Writing (Fiction concentration).
Lawrence M. Schoen: Has been busy again, selling reprint
rights for "Writer's Block" to The Goblin Muse, the poem
"Dragon Math" to Spellbound, and two stories, "Cycles" and
"Whale Song" to SpaceWays Weekly.
Catherine Petrini: Gave a public reading from her novel-in-progress
Journeys Far. The Washington, D.C., event was sponsored by
the Johns Hopkins University writing program.

Mary Chambers: A new member has been accepted into the Kansas
City Court--her novel, Shaper's Prey, is in workshop now
and we'll post biographical information and some samples when we
